After being a New Englander my whole life, I finally made it to Vermont. Well we won't count that time growing up when my mother and I got lost coming home from Story Land. This was a beautiful ride up Rte 89 from New Hampshire heading to Burlington, VT. Stunning views of the countryside with a backdrop of mountains filled our views. We spent the day at Church Street Marketplace. An outdoor shopping area which reminded me of Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, but not that geared to the tourist's needs in my opinion. It was still a beautiful place. We were just expecting to find many shops with souvenirs. A few blocks down brings you to the shores of Lake Champlain were you will find several parks, a bike trail, and other relaxing pastimes. A restful place to venture after a day of shopping. On our way home we took a quick detour south to check out the Shelburne Country Store and pick up some of the things Vermont is famous for. What did we pick up you ask? Well, we purchased cheese and maple syrup. Along with the Champlain Chocolate and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream we devoured earlier in the day I'd say we had a good taste of Vermont. I can't wait to go back and discover more! More views of Vermont....
